One of the most surreal moments of our wedding day wasn’t just walking down the aisle or saying our vows.
It was performing his original song — live.
When I first moved here to the U.S., he barely touched the piano. Life was busy. There were adjustments, responsibilities, and just the everyday weight of building a life together. Music slowly took the back seat.
But I always knew how much it meant to him.
So one day I told him, half-serious and half-determined:
“If you’re ever going to play again, it should be on our wedding day — surrounded by the people we love.”
He hated the idea immediately. 😂
He’s not used to having all eyes on him. Performing live? Definitely not his comfort zone.
I kept bringing it up anyway. (Very gently. Repeatedly. Persistently. 🤭)
Finally, he gave me one condition:
“Only if you sing.”
Now… Filipinos are famously amazing singers.
I, unfortunately, belong to the minority group. 😂
But we shook hands on it. Deal sealed.
To make it even more meaningful, I convinced him to perform one of my favorite songs from his first album — “Hold On.” The melody, the lyrics, the heart behind it… it’s always been special to me. It carries so much hope and quiet strength.

Knowing my voice wasn’t exactly concert-ready, I practiced almost every day leading up to the wedding. In the car. In the living room. Anywhere I could.
And on that day, he played the piano live.
I stood beside him and sang.
Not perfectly. Not flawlessly. But with my whole heart.
It was the very first time either of us had ever performed live.
For us, it wasn’t about polished vocals or being professional. It wasn’t about impressing anyone.
It was about intimacy.
It was about meaning.
It was about creating a moment that felt completely, undeniably us.
Standing there, performing his own song in front of our family and closest friends, felt surreal. Watching a dream that once lived quietly in his heart fill the entire room… that meant everything.
We are so grateful we got to serenade the people we love with a song that started from his dream. 💛
And somehow, that made our wedding day even more unforgettable.
