Checklist
Clothing
When traveling through the Swiss Alps, comfortable and breathable clothing is essential. Many activities involve walking, hiking, riding cable cars, or exploring mountain villages, so lightweight and flexible clothes make a big difference.
Layering is also important since temperatures can change quickly between valleys and higher elevations.
- Sports bra / Shorts
- UV Protection Shirt
- UV shirts are especially helpful when hiking because they protect your skin from sun exposure while keeping you cool.
- Lightweight hiking pants / Leggings
- Convertible or lightweight hiking pants are ideal for changing temperatures and long days of walking.
- Men
- Women
- Pants: Libin Women’s Cargo Joggers
- Leggings: Under Armour Women’s Motion Leggings
- Convertible or lightweight hiking pants are ideal for changing temperatures and long days of walking.
- Lightweight Fleece jacket:
- Even during summer, temperatures in the mountains can drop quickly. A fleece layer keeps you warm without taking up much space in your bag.
- Sweater
- A comfortable sweater is great for cool evenings in alpine villages or relaxing at your hotel.
- Swimwear:
- Many Swiss hotels have pools, spas, or saunas, so having swimwear is useful even if swimming wasn’t part of your original plan.
Sun Protection
When hiking or exploring the Alps, you’re often at higher elevations where UV exposure is stronger. Proper sun protection helps prevent sunburn and keeps you comfortable during long days outdoors.
- Sunglasses
- Polarized sunglasses help reduce glare from snow, water, and bright mountain landscapes.
- Sun hat
- A hat provides additional shade and keeps you cooler during hikes or scenic walks.
- Tony’s hat: GADIEMKENSD Stretch Running Hat

- Sunscreen (face and body)
- At higher elevations, the sun can be stronger than expected, so applying sunscreen regularly is important.

If you plan to explore Switzerland’s incredible hiking trails—like those near Wengen or along the famous Stoos Ridge—having proper hiking gear makes the experience much more enjoyable.
- Hiking shoes
- Good hiking shoes provide stability, comfort, and grip, especially on rocky or uneven mountain trails.
