During our stay in Wengen, there was one day when it was simply too foggy to hike. The mountains were hidden behind thick clouds, and the dramatic alpine views we had hoped for were nowhere to be seen.

Instead of feeling disappointed, we decided to turn the day into something memorable.

That’s when we came up with the idea of getting a couple tattoo — something small, meaningful, and connected to Switzerland. We chose the edelweiss, the national flower of Switzerland, symbolizing resilience and love in the Alps. It felt perfect for our honeymoon adventure.

After searching online, I found Entre Lagos Tattoo & Art gallery in Interlaken. It wasn’t exactly next door — about a 30-minute journey from Wengen — but since we didn’t have hiking plans that day, we figured, why not?

I messaged the artist on WhatsApp first. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous — I wasn’t sure if he would respond in English. But he did! He replied quickly, confirmed availability, and we decided to go for it.

The trip itself felt like part of the adventure — hopping on the train from Wengen and heading toward Interlaken with a mix of excitement and nervous energy.

When we arrived, we showed him the design we had in mind, and he brought it to life beautifully.

I was especially anxious because it was my first ever tattoo. I kept wondering, Is it going to hurt? What if I panic halfway through?

But honestly? It wasn’t bad at all. Maybe the artist was just that good. Or maybe I have a higher pain tolerance than I thought. Either way, it felt more meaningful than painful.

Tony, on the other hand, was completely relaxed. He already has several tattoos on his arm, so this was nothing new for him.

I chose to place mine behind my ear — discreet, elegant, and a little cool. Something I could hide if needed, but also show when I wanted to.

Tony had his done on his arm, where he usually keeps his souvenir tattoos from meaningful experiences.

What started as a foggy, “ruined hiking day” turned into one of the most unforgettable memories of our trip.

Instead of mountain views, we came home with something permanent — a small edelweiss that will forever remind us of Switzerland, spontaneity, and choosing adventure even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
