For our Zermatt stay, we booked Hotel Capricorn, located just a short distance from Zermatt Train Station.

Getting There
We took a taxi from the train station to the hotel, which was convenient after traveling with luggage. On check-out, we decided to walk instead, both to save on taxi costs and to enjoy our final moments in Zermatt — taking in the alpine streets, shops and mountain views.
Another practical note: we were a bit late checking in, and reception was about to close. Luckily, Tony had coordinated with the hotel beforehand. Our key card was left in an envelope with his name at the front door, and there was a separate envelope for another guest. This flexibility made late check-in smooth and stress-free.
Our Room
We stayed on the 3rd floor (highest floor). The room was spacious and unique:
- Roof window for stargazing
- Fresh alpine air flowed in easily
- Balcony with a stunning Matterhorn view
- Modern, comfortable, and cozy interior
Note: There was some construction happening during our stay, which slightly impacted photos, but the view was still incredible.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast was decent — clean, simple, and served by friendly staff, but not a standout highlight.
The hotel is also within walking distance to restaurants and shops, convenient for exploring Zermatt after a long hike or for grabbing evening meals.
Relaxation & Amenities
We especially loved the hotel’s sauna and steam room, perfect after long days of hiking. The jacuzzi with a Matterhorn view was a highlight — relaxing while soaking in the scenery made it extra special.
Small, thoughtful touches from the staff stood out: when we skipped room cleaning for the day, they left treats like candies on our door handle. These little gestures added warmth to our stay.
Overall Impression
Hotel Capricorn is a cozy, well-located alpine retreat with Matterhorn-view balconies and relaxing wellness amenities. While breakfast wasn’t remarkable, the roof window for stargazing, sauna and jacuzzi, and thoughtful staff touches made it a memorable stop on our Switzerland honeymoon.
